A clinical substance use evaluation helps determine whether treatment is recommended. We’ll discuss your situation, review the information needed for your evaluation, and explain the next steps.

DEEP treatment

When treatment is needed, care is guided by your clinical needs and DEEP requirements. We’ll discuss an individualized plan and what participation involves.

Common questions

Is this the DEEP education course?

Avalon’s services described here are evaluations and treatment. To register for a state education program, contact Maine DEEP at 207-626-8600.

Can I start with treatment instead of an education course?

Maine offers a Completion of Treatment option. Contact the DEEP office to ask whether this pathway fits your situation and request the required materials. The state requires those forms to be processed before your first DEEP provider appointment.

Can the same counselor evaluate and treat me?

Maine generally requires different counselors for evaluation and treatment. We’ll discuss the appropriate arrangement for your situation. Read Maine’s requirement.

How long will services take?

There is no single timeline for everyone. Your clinician will explain the recommended services and what completion involves, based on your needs and DEEP requirements.

What will it cost? Can I use insurance?

Please contact Avalon to confirm fees and payment options for the specific DEEP service you need. Insurance coverage can vary by service and plan; our team can discuss what to verify before you begin.

Who confirms my DEEP requirements?

Maine’s DEEP office can answer questions about program requirements and completion status. Call 207-626-8600. Avalon can explain your clinical services and next steps with our team.
